SS Class 2021 Racing Schedule

 Horton Trophy Races, Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 @ SYC.

  • Schedule for Summer 2021

     Hello SS sailors, the first race of the season will be the Smith’s Point Races, during the weekend of June 27.  Any sailors who wish to race their SS should sail it or tow it to Harts Cove in Moriches bay on Sunday, June 27 before 10 am. There are several launch ramps in Harts cove, if anyone wishes to trailer their boat, and launch it that weekend.  The launch ramp at Maple Ave. has some trailer parking, a port-a-potty, and a dock where boats can tie up.  We will try to have a skippers meeting by rafting up in the cove before the first race, and everyone will be given a bay chart that shows the location of the course and buoys.  We plan to race to Great Gun Beach, have a pic-nic, and then race back to Harts Cove.  Chris Dalmasse has offered to use their power boat for the committee boat, starting horn, starting line, and finish line.
     Sailboat racing has returned this year at the WYS, and they will be hosting our SSCA Championship race in July.  Also, they will host our final event there for the Labor Day race.  The folks at Shinnecock Yacht Club have offered to hold the Horton Trophy race from their facility.  The clubhouse will be open, and plans have been made to provide food and refreshments.  The actual race schedule for Summer-2021 is listed below.

  • Sunday, June 27, Smith’s Point Races at Harts Cove,  Moriches Bay,  11 am start;    Skippers meeting 10:30 am

  • Saturday, July 24, SSCA Championship Races at WYS,  Skippers meeting at 10:45am;   Start at 11:15am;

  • Saturday, September 4, Dudley Trophy Races at WYS; Skippers meeting at  10:00am;   Start at 11:00am;

    We wish to thank all our active members who have participated in the past races and supported our club activities.  Your contributions are much appreciated!  Good luck to everyone who does decide to come out sailing.  And to those who just wish to watch, we hope to provide some photographic moments that you can view from a distance.

Happy Sailing!
